English Speaking Pupils

English speaking pupils have special English classes comprising language and literature, six periods per week. The curriculum is the same as in Britain ie : the National Curriculum. They prepare for IGCSE exams in English Language and English Literature. Those Pupils who do not wish to begin German or Japanese in the first year can opt for a further 4 lessons per week of English, bringing their total to 10 lessons a week.

In the first two years of the Lower Secondary School History, Geography, and certain workshops are taught in English with the help of bilingual documents.

As far as French is concerned the pupils either join the native speaker classes or they go to classes where French is taught as a foreign language, it depends on their level. There is interchange between the 2 levels and the pupil can stay in the French as a foreign language class until such time as they have a good mastery of the language. The other subjects are taught in French.

To begin with the demands made of the pupil are modified and according to his/her needs the pupil can either be taken out of the lesson or be given special help during tests.

Whilst the pupil is settling in priority is given to the teaching of French, to help them integrate, and English. A special coordinator encourages the pupil and can formulate a specific timetable by replacing certain subjects and substitu.
