March 20th, was a day of celebration at Ombrosa, bringing together the children and staff of Cycle 2 to celebrate all things “English”. The children and their families rose to the challenge of creating homemade costumes and what a result! So much time, energy and commitment had gone into the vast array of costumes, with everything from English weather, to post boxes, telephone boxes, tea bags and baked beans, red buses, royal family members and their bearskin wearing guardsmen, then Paddington Bear, punk rockers, Mr. Bean and Freddie Mercury! Such creativity!
Mr. Hamish McPiper, the Scottish bagpiper, played the parade around the school grounds and finished the morning without any breath, and the judges (Queen Elizabeth II and her Royal Guardsman!) found their task very difficult, but loved the occasion. The children spent the rest of the day learning about London monuments, Alice in Wonderland, the taste of the Victoria sandwich, Irish dancing and Canadian English! Will this become an annual event? Watch this space…
