Bakewell tart – CE1

On Thursday the 24th of September 2026 in OMBROSA Savoie, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. LEGROS’s mother, was once again ready for a cooking workshop with the new CE1 pupils of 2026/27.

This much-loved activity that is baking Bakewell cakes was once again a great success thanks to Mrs. Smith’s enthusiasm and energy for sharing British traditions with the children.

The Bakewell Tarts are true British classic consisted of a pastry base and a frangipane top with a layer of cherry jam in between and finished with a Mr Kipling cherry on top for decoration.  This tart is a traditional British dessert originating in the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire, North of England.

The students had great fun preparing their own cakes, with each child making four cakes to take home and share with their family.

It was a wonderful day of cooking, discovering British culture and, of course, communicating in English along the way!

A huge ‘thank you’ to Mrs. Smith for sharing her time with OMBROSA Savoie. We hope that next year’s CE1 pupils in 2027/28, will have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful tradition too!
